This introductory course is designed specifically for women, by a woman, to provide a solid foundation in firearm handling and basic shooting skills. Conducted primarily in a classroom setting, the course utilizes plastic replica handguns for hands-on practice. The session concludes with a supervised live-fire experience at a local gun range. By the end of the session, you will have a fundamental understanding of firearm safety and handling, giving you the
confidence to take your next steps at the firing range.

How Time Will Be Spent
3 hours total time.
2 hours classroom time.
1 hour range time.
This 2-hour class, followed by 1 hour of supervised range time, is structured to build knowledge and confidence in a supportive, women-focused environment. We’ll begin in the classroom with hands-on training using replica handguns to cover key topics such as firearm safety, how to check and clear a firearm, and the fundamentals of handgun shooting. You’ll also participate in dry-fire drills designed to help reinforce what you’ve learned.
A 15-minute break will be provided about halfway through the classroom session. After the classroom portion, we’ll travel to a local gun range for a 1-hour live-fire session, where you’ll apply your new skills with real-time guidance and support.
By the end of the class, you’ll walk away with a clear understanding of how to safely handle a handgun and the practical experience needed to continue your training with confidence.
What to Bring to Class
- Handgun (Range also has rentals, if needed.)
- 50 rounds of ammunition.
- Range time, typically ~$15.00.
- Hearing and eye protection (Range also has rentals, if needed.)
- Open mind with a willingness to learn.
- Notepad and pen or pencil.
What Will Be Provided
- Paper target.
- Women’s Handgun and Self-Defense Fundamentals book.
Class Policies
- Must wear close-toed shoes, i.e., no flip-flops, sandals, or any other shoe type allowing toes to be exposed.
- No photos or videos of any portion of class.
- Be on-time to class so as not to interrupt other students.
- No children allowed in class.
- No food or beverage.
- If you are sick or think you are getting sick, stay home. We are happy to get you re-scheduled. If you come to class sick, you will be asked to leave without any refund.
- No firearms, loaded or unloaded, or ammunition shall be presented or handled by students during any classroom portion of training.
- Waiver and Agreement will need to be signed before start of class.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation 48 hours or more ahead of class time will result in a one-time re-schedule. No refunds will be offered. Cancellations made within 48 hours of class time will forfeit the entirety of the class cost paid, i.e. no refund.
