Overview
Season 5, Episode 60
A buddy joins us on this episode to share his story about how he learned he was being tracked. On a late-night business trip, a routine hotel stay turns unsettling when a stranger’s tracker starts sending location alerts. What begins as confusion—”Is this an AirTag?”—escalates into a tense night of improvised defenses and hard questions about privacy and safety.
Through candid conversation and practical reflection, this episode follows Chris’s experience: the discovery, the improvised booby trap, and the aftermath as he drives home mulling over intent, technology, and responsibility. Listeners will be drawn into a narrative that mixes personal vulnerability with pragmatic lessons on awareness and preparedness.

Hello and welcome to another episode of the self-initiative project podcast
00:00:15.697 –> 00:00:20.617
i’m your host jim o’brien hey hey and welcome back to another episode today
00:00:20.617 –> 00:00:25.617
i have my special guest chris fields on with me to talk about uh trackers but
00:00:25.617 –> 00:00:28.317
but before that just wanted to welcome chris and
00:00:28.397 –> 00:00:31.117
have him tell us a little bit about himself. How are you, Chris?
00:00:31.897 –> 00:00:35.337
I’m doing well, Jim. I’m glad to be here, man. Thanks for having me.
00:00:35.477 –> 00:00:36.497
Yeah, thanks for coming on.
00:00:37.397 –> 00:00:40.797
Yeah, man. Yeah, so, yeah, my name is Chris.
00:00:41.257 –> 00:00:45.697
And so, you know, I’m a guy. I’m 50 years old.
00:00:47.617 –> 00:00:54.677
I’m 50 years old. You know, I’ve traveled the world for 30 years doing robotics, industrial robotics.
00:00:55.258 –> 00:00:59.338
You know, I’ve seen a thing or two, raised three kids, a United States citizen.
00:00:59.478 –> 00:01:01.398
I’ve been to different countries all night, you know?
00:01:01.578 –> 00:01:05.438
So, yeah, I’m a guy living life and doing things, you know?
00:01:05.658 –> 00:01:10.018
So it sounds like you’re pretty much like me, just an average guy doing what you do.
00:01:10.398 –> 00:01:15.518
And we both had an interest in talking about this particular subject since it’s
00:01:15.518 –> 00:01:20.338
kind of popped up on your radar more recently and evidently is becoming a thing
00:01:20.338 –> 00:01:22.958
or has been a thing. And that’s trackers.
00:01:23.158 –> 00:01:26.518
And what we’re talking about when we talk about trackers is this,
00:01:26.718 –> 00:01:30.498
these little devices, you’ve probably heard of them or seen them,
00:01:30.558 –> 00:01:34.298
or you may even have one already yourself where you put them in your bag,
00:01:34.338 –> 00:01:36.798
you put them on your key chain, you put them in your wallet.
00:01:37.178 –> 00:01:44.078
And if you misplace those items, the apps allow you to track those items so
00:01:44.078 –> 00:01:48.878
you can easily recover them and find them. They typically work off of Bluetooth.
00:01:48.898 –> 00:01:54.598
I know some of them, I think there’s one called the Cube that works off a GPS
00:01:54.598 –> 00:01:57.338
in addition to or instead of.
00:01:57.458 –> 00:02:01.898
But anyway, they’re little small devices that are easy enough. They look like a key fob.
00:02:02.038 –> 00:02:05.018
They can click onto your keychain, whatever. There’s a lot of brands.
00:02:05.478 –> 00:02:10.858
Apple has their AirTag. Samsung has one called SmartTag, I think,
00:02:11.018 –> 00:02:16.918
for their Galaxy phones that work really well with the Android Galaxy phones. There’s Chipolo.
00:02:17.698 –> 00:02:20.738
There is Tile. Tile has a couple.
00:02:21.218 –> 00:02:25.418
Tile Pro, I know, is one of the couple that they have out.
00:02:25.598 –> 00:02:28.758
And there’s a handful of others and probably more coming out every day,
00:02:28.898 –> 00:02:31.618
like every other technological device.
00:02:31.618 –> 00:02:37.118
But the intent of these devices is to put them on small items or really whatever
00:02:37.118 –> 00:02:40.718
you want to so you can track them down if you misplace them or lose them.
00:02:40.898 –> 00:02:45.338
That’s basically the gist. But as it turns out,
00:02:45.896 –> 00:02:51.556
Some of the more known, better known trackers might have been used for nefarious
00:02:51.556 –> 00:02:57.276
purposes or they can be used for nefarious purposes and have been in some instances,
00:02:57.276 –> 00:03:03.956
such as stalking and even property theft, you know, specifically vehicle theft.
00:03:04.216 –> 00:03:09.036
And you’ve kind of had a run in with that more recently yourself.
00:03:09.736 –> 00:03:13.556
Yeah, man. Yeah, that’s exactly. I’m telling you, you should work.
00:03:13.556 –> 00:03:18.816
That was the best description of what those things are. That was so clear in coherence.
00:03:19.516 –> 00:03:23.096
They marketed it just like that. They marketed it as, oh, in case you lose your
00:03:23.096 –> 00:03:27.036
keys or your Nana loses her purse or something like that. They make it seem
00:03:27.036 –> 00:03:27.976
like it’s a really nice thing.
00:03:28.416 –> 00:03:31.976
And on the surface, it does look like that. But like you said,
00:03:32.096 –> 00:03:36.776
that you were looking towards the end there, you said people are using it for more nefarious things.
00:03:36.776 –> 00:03:42.196
You know, there’s a class action lawsuit right now against Apple because of,
00:03:42.316 –> 00:03:47.436
you know, people who have been tracked down and bad things happen to them due to the technology.
00:03:47.736 –> 00:03:50.296
You know, is it is it Apple’s fault?
00:03:50.636 –> 00:03:55.656
You know, or Cube or anybody? No, but it’s what the intention of it is.
00:03:55.736 –> 00:03:58.036
They’re both in the old gum thing.
00:03:58.436 –> 00:04:03.316
You know, the competitive shooter for 10 years, you know, shot thousands and thousands of rounds.
00:04:03.456 –> 00:04:08.436
No one was injured. you know but yet in other people’s hands that thing is the
00:04:08.436 –> 00:04:10.316
most controversial thing that touched the planet,
00:04:11.013 –> 00:04:16.033
you know so yeah exactly what it is you know and that’s i’m glad you said it the way you said it
00:04:16.113 –> 00:04:19.073
was like it is that would be this really nice thing but in reality
00:04:19.073 –> 00:04:22.653
it’s not like that so what what we what we know now you
00:04:22.653 –> 00:04:27.633
know so my situation was that so i traveled you know i found around i was going
00:04:27.633 –> 00:04:33.193
to go see a customer i i drive um i was about seven hours away six or seven
00:04:33.193 –> 00:04:38.853
hours away from georgia and ended up in a smaller town to meet to meet the customer
00:04:38.853 –> 00:04:39.973
that’s where they’re located at.
00:04:40.233 –> 00:04:44.373
I go in there, hang out with them for a little bit. I got there around 4 or 5 o’clock, whatever.
00:04:45.133 –> 00:04:48.553
Hang out with them, everything’s good. They’re friends of mine and then I went to my hotel.
00:04:48.833 –> 00:04:52.793
I checked into my hotel and stretched out, cleaned up a little bit and then
00:04:52.793 –> 00:04:54.273
went down to go get something to eat.
00:04:55.033 –> 00:04:58.213
This is a small town. It’s not a very big town so they have one area.
00:04:58.693 –> 00:05:01.053
You can go get your little restaurant lizard.
00:05:01.613 –> 00:05:04.473
Anyway, I got something to eat. I didn’t go out and party. I didn’t talk to
00:05:04.473 –> 00:05:06.953
anybody. I wasn’t making friends.
00:05:07.413 –> 00:05:09.913
Right. Didn’t meet up. You don’t do things. Right.
00:05:10.953 –> 00:05:14.573
I was just doing my thing, went ate, came back to my hotel room.
00:05:14.773 –> 00:05:19.033
I lay down to go to bed and my phone gives me this alert. It’s about 10 o’clock
00:05:19.033 –> 00:05:22.013
at night now. I went out around about 6 or 7.
00:05:23.713 –> 00:05:27.233
I get this notification, but it looks unique.
00:05:27.553 –> 00:05:32.773
It’s not like the notification you get from Facebook or Instagram or anything like that.
00:05:32.913 –> 00:05:36.533
It’s a very stately notification.
00:05:36.953 –> 00:05:40.353
And I thought then it said something about an air attack. And I thought it was
00:05:40.353 –> 00:05:43.093
somebody was trying to airdrop something to me because people do that.
00:05:43.213 –> 00:05:48.713
You know, I’m like, oh, what’s this? So I decided to research what it was. And I clicked on.
00:05:49.309 –> 00:05:53.649
And I looked at it and I go, that’s where I was. It showed a map of where the
00:05:53.649 –> 00:05:54.789
tag was attached to me at.
00:05:55.149 –> 00:05:59.769
And I was in that location at that time. Now, this is three hours later, though, right?
00:06:00.429 –> 00:06:05.089
So I got, I was out at six, seven o’clock. I came back and it alerted me about
00:06:05.089 –> 00:06:06.829
it until 10 o’clock. And I’m like, oh, geez.
00:06:07.409 –> 00:06:12.809
Anyway, so I realized what it was. And I’m like, well, why would somebody tag me?
00:06:13.129 –> 00:06:15.909
I don’t even know anybody here. But I was like, whatever. It happened.
00:06:16.209 –> 00:06:19.309
All right. So, when I travel, I take certain precautions.
00:06:19.669 –> 00:06:23.529
You know, I always take two layers of protection with me when I go on the road
00:06:23.529 –> 00:06:24.969
because I don’t know what’s going to happen.
00:06:25.109 –> 00:06:28.609
I don’t know, you know, what you’re going to run into, but it’s better to have
00:06:28.609 –> 00:06:30.849
it than I need it than I need it than I need it than I need it, right? Yeah, exactly.
00:06:31.029 –> 00:06:35.689
So, I go ahead and I said, so, I’m on the first floor of this hotel,
00:06:35.949 –> 00:06:37.789
right? There’s like a…
00:06:38.677 –> 00:06:44.477
Breezeway next to my, there’s the out facing window and there’s a door to come in.
00:06:44.597 –> 00:06:47.737
There’s a slight hallway, which is an important part of the conversation,
00:06:47.737 –> 00:06:50.997
but there’s a little hallway that comes into the, into the main room. Yeah.
00:06:51.557 –> 00:06:57.197
So I got back to the hotel and all that happened. So I started to really start
00:06:57.197 –> 00:07:00.977
to think about, you know, well, I’m in the situation, you know,
00:07:01.097 –> 00:07:04.177
all I know is I wanted to go to sleep. So I booby trapped the room.
00:07:04.377 –> 00:07:09.677
You know, I hung, uh, So I hung the iron up on the curtain, bent the curtain
00:07:09.677 –> 00:07:13.457
right out a little bit, hung the iron up on it where it’d be able to slide off.
00:07:13.457 –> 00:07:16.957
And I put the cord behind the window, so the sliding window,
00:07:17.017 –> 00:07:19.517
so it would pull it off. Yeah. Right? It would wake me up.
00:07:19.717 –> 00:07:26.777
And then I took the ironing board and hung it off the latch of the door and put a coat hanger.
00:07:27.457 –> 00:07:30.117
It was kind of crazy. There was a closet right there.
00:07:30.877 –> 00:07:33.357
I wedged it in there so in case somebody came through the door,
00:07:33.777 –> 00:07:37.657
it would fall, potentially stop them or scare them or wake me up.
00:07:37.777 –> 00:07:39.717
You’re going to get woken up either way. That’s what I was doing.
00:07:40.197 –> 00:07:44.457
Yeah. Exactly. Well, the unfortunate part was I got a little fire drill because
00:07:44.457 –> 00:07:47.417
the iron blow, I didn’t really guess I didn’t rig it up that well.
00:07:47.717 –> 00:07:52.757
And it fell. It was like one o’clock in the morning. I jumped up, grabbed up my gun.
00:07:52.857 –> 00:07:55.897
I was like, ah, I was ready. I was like, oh. But nothing happened.
00:07:56.717 –> 00:07:59.417
Nothing happened. Yeah, that’s good to you. I literally laughed when I went
00:07:59.417 –> 00:08:01.297
back to bed. And I was like, oh, Jesus.
00:08:02.717 –> 00:08:06.197
But anyway, but I didn’t know. Well, you don’t know. I didn’t know.
00:08:06.457 –> 00:08:09.037
Yeah, exactly. You’re away from home. I was going to be more.
00:08:09.517 –> 00:08:14.537
Right. Yeah, you’re away from home. You’re in a hotel room. You don’t have all
00:08:14.537 –> 00:08:18.137
your stuff maybe that you would at the house, right?
00:08:18.337 –> 00:08:22.257
So you’re taking things that you’ve got around you and using them.
00:08:22.357 –> 00:08:26.757
And I think, you know, on a sidebar note, that’s an important lesson in and of itself, right?
00:08:26.757 –> 00:08:32.357
Like sometimes you got to make do with what you have and that could be an iron,
00:08:32.577 –> 00:08:35.777
a clothes iron and a coat hanger, you know, at the end of the day.
00:08:35.917 –> 00:08:37.997
But that’s great that you did that because you don’t know.
00:08:39.316 –> 00:08:42.216
Right right exactly you’re out of town you don’t know you’re
00:08:42.216 –> 00:08:45.236
seven hours away from where you live you’re not
00:08:45.236 –> 00:08:47.976
you don’t have any creature comfort you know exactly so I
00:08:47.976 –> 00:08:52.216
was you know I just went on high alert I was like okay anyway I went made it
00:08:52.216 –> 00:08:56.056
through the night obviously you know I woke up the next day I had been there
00:08:56.056 –> 00:09:00.576
met with the customer but I was driving home when it kind of realized what happened
00:09:00.576 –> 00:09:06.136
you know and I was just like wow you know what was that time to process why did that happen,
00:09:06.836 –> 00:09:10.136
right you know it was fight or flight You know what I’m saying?
00:09:10.656 –> 00:09:13.196
Because that’s the situation I was in. And I was like, well,
00:09:13.256 –> 00:09:15.516
I don’t, I don’t even want to think about it. I’m just going to discontinue.
00:09:15.716 –> 00:09:19.476
Somebody could be hunting. I don’t know why, but anyway, you know, I don’t know.
00:09:19.596 –> 00:09:23.196
It could have been some racist dude who, you know, happened to be of Africa.
00:09:23.376 –> 00:09:24.756
I don’t know. I’m mixed, but that’s neither here nor there.
00:09:25.016 –> 00:09:28.596
And they threw a tag in the bed of my truck. I don’t know. I don’t know.
00:09:28.776 –> 00:09:31.316
You don’t know. You know, or whatever it was, it could have been,
00:09:31.436 –> 00:09:32.516
it could have been a gang initiation.
00:09:32.976 –> 00:09:36.236
It could have been in any number of things. It could have been anything. I don’t know.
00:09:36.456 –> 00:09:40.596
Yeah. You don’t know. So, you know, forget it, you know, not to bring anybody
00:09:40.596 –> 00:09:45.796
else into it, but you have to weigh the consequences, weigh what you’re playing
00:09:45.796 –> 00:09:47.236
with. And that’s kind of what I did.
00:09:47.456 –> 00:09:49.536
So when I was driving home, I started thinking about it. I was like,
00:09:49.596 –> 00:09:53.576
well, what is this thing? And I kind of broke it down the way you did it when
00:09:53.576 –> 00:09:54.536
you started the conversation.
00:09:55.316 –> 00:09:58.216
And I was like, man, you know, what is that thing?
00:09:58.936 –> 00:10:02.576
What’s it for? You know, and why would work in this be used at?
00:10:02.756 –> 00:10:05.676
You know, and at first you go to the obvious marketing that they give you.
00:10:05.676 –> 00:10:08.416
And oh it’s for mom it’s for you know when your
00:10:08.416 –> 00:10:11.136
nana loses their keys you can find it she’s right paying your
00:10:11.136 –> 00:10:13.916
butt anymore you know what i’m saying that kind of thing that’s
00:10:13.916 –> 00:10:16.616
what it’s for but the reality of it is and now this is like
00:10:16.616 –> 00:10:19.376
no they could use this for other things oh yeah this could definitely be
00:10:19.376 –> 00:10:22.056
used for other things you know you don’t but you don’t want to first want to
00:10:22.056 –> 00:10:25.196
say or think it because you have the the the naughty stock
00:10:25.196 –> 00:10:28.856
you know what i’m saying you don’t want to i didn’t come out with that but i
00:10:28.856 –> 00:10:32.416
was like you got to think about this you know yeah and then so i posted something
00:10:32.416 –> 00:10:35.956
on instagram right and i kind of alerted people because i got a I got a few
00:10:35.956 –> 00:10:38.896
thousand followers on this who happen to be the majority of the majority of
00:10:38.896 –> 00:10:42.056
the women and I was like you ladies didn’t really be careful about this because.
00:10:42.746 –> 00:10:46.326
There’s a situation, and it’s not just to women. It could be anybody.
00:10:46.426 –> 00:10:49.386
It’s not gender, you know, neutral or whatever, I don’t know,
00:10:49.566 –> 00:10:51.486
whatever they say, you know what I mean? Right. It’s not any of that.
00:10:51.626 –> 00:10:53.506
It could happen to anybody. It could happen to anybody.
00:10:53.666 –> 00:10:57.586
You guys need to be, right, you need to be aware of this, that this could happen,
00:10:57.786 –> 00:11:00.726
you know, and somebody could do something to follow you when they have access
00:11:00.726 –> 00:11:03.906
to you and where your whereabouts are and know they could, you know,
00:11:03.986 –> 00:11:05.466
they could plan your frequency and what you do.
00:11:05.586 –> 00:11:07.826
There’s a lot of things that could happen with you, you know,
00:11:07.946 –> 00:11:09.766
and people need to be made aware of it.
00:11:09.846 –> 00:11:13.366
And the fact, the thing that really kind of stuck out the most isn’t that
00:11:13.366 –> 00:11:16.566
this is really that new a technology this has been around for decades yeah
00:11:16.566 –> 00:11:19.486
but you had to be like like a counter surveillance or
00:11:19.486 –> 00:11:24.226
surveillance guy or you had to have like the insight to go find it the problem
00:11:24.226 –> 00:11:28.666
with this is this is at walmart you know you can go to walmart and then in the
00:11:28.666 –> 00:11:32.846
line grab one of these things pay for it you know and go out and then you know
00:11:32.846 –> 00:11:36.946
there’s probably some dude that i don’t want to be you know negative but there’s
00:11:36.946 –> 00:11:38.906
probably a guy who goes by the 12 pack of beer and,
00:11:39.466 –> 00:11:42.246
one of these sits in the back and says night to him you know what I’m saying
00:11:42.246 –> 00:11:45.626
you know what I’m saying you know what I’m saying you know and that’s crazy
00:11:45.626 –> 00:11:51.586
and just to be clear I don’t think we’re saying that the manufacturer of these things.
00:11:52.460 –> 00:11:58.200
Had, you know, thought that this would be or could be used in a nefarious manner.
00:11:58.360 –> 00:12:01.240
But the fact of the matter is people are going to be people, right?
00:12:01.380 –> 00:12:06.860
And there’s some nefarious folks in the world. And if there’s a way to use something
00:12:06.860 –> 00:12:11.520
in a manner that it was not really intended to, nor should it,
00:12:12.000 –> 00:12:16.060
ethically or otherwise morally be used as such, they’re going to find out,
00:12:16.180 –> 00:12:19.920
they’re going to figure out and find out how to use it that way and then likely do it.
00:12:19.980 –> 00:12:23.880
And so, you know, going back to And to your point, you know,
00:12:24.120 –> 00:12:26.980
the marketing spin is find your keys.
00:12:27.320 –> 00:12:32.800
The nefarious spin on it is, hey, here’s a really simple, easy,
00:12:33.000 –> 00:12:38.540
inexpensive way to track people potentially or track property specifically.
00:12:38.540 –> 00:12:41.980
You know, I’ve understood a little bit of research I’ve done that,
00:12:42.100 –> 00:12:50.120
you know, car thefts could be, you know, I guess initiated with one of these trackers.
00:12:50.260 –> 00:12:54.320
And so it’s not the product itself. It’s how the people figure out those that
00:12:54.320 –> 00:12:58.200
are intended on doing something bad, you know, how they figure out how to use it.
00:12:58.660 –> 00:13:04.180
So, you know, I did a little research and they basically work on Bluetooth, right?
00:13:04.340 –> 00:13:08.220
Some of them, like I mentioned, I think the Cube and maybe some others out there
00:13:08.220 –> 00:13:10.940
and some older things work on GPS.
00:13:12.238 –> 00:13:17.358
But I guess a lot of them have moved to and now are using the latest and greatest Bluetooth.
00:13:18.638 –> 00:13:26.078
And typically, even like the latest Bluetooth 5.0 or whatever it is, it only has a range.
00:13:26.258 –> 00:13:31.698
These devices only have, on average, a range of 200 to 400 feet.
00:13:32.358 –> 00:13:37.058
Some, however, are touted as having greater. And so pick on them.
00:13:37.458 –> 00:13:44.258
The AirTag, the Apple AirTag. Actually, if you’re outdoors, it can have a distance,
00:13:44.278 –> 00:13:47.718
it can have a range of up to 800 feet.
00:13:47.938 –> 00:13:51.938
Now, they say as soon as you go indoors, it drops down to about 130,
00:13:51.938 –> 00:13:56.338
but you can expect all these numbers for any of them to be approximations and
00:13:56.338 –> 00:13:58.998
probably on the high side of the approximations.
00:13:58.998 –> 00:14:02.078
My point is is that some are
00:14:02.078 –> 00:14:04.818
greater than what the others seem to
00:14:04.818 –> 00:14:07.578
tout and at the same time they are kind of
00:14:07.578 –> 00:14:11.998
limited because they do use bluetooth technology and that only goes so far and
00:14:11.998 –> 00:14:17.978
then if you throw barriers and walls and metal cars and whatever else but but
00:14:17.978 –> 00:14:21.758
if you are outdoors and on a good day and a clear night and the moon’s aligned
00:14:21.758 –> 00:14:26.018
just right let’s say you could do 800 feet with any of them.
00:14:26.418 –> 00:14:28.838
If you translate that, that’s,
00:14:29.397 –> 00:14:33.657
to roughly just shy of 2.7 football fields.
00:14:33.797 –> 00:14:38.497
That’s plenty enough distance to pace and get enough distance between you and
00:14:38.497 –> 00:14:42.097
that car that you might be following to track down, to find where they live,
00:14:42.237 –> 00:14:47.137
to either have intentions with the people or intentions with that vehicle or
00:14:47.137 –> 00:14:50.797
other property that you may have watched them load into their vehicle at the
00:14:50.797 –> 00:14:52.997
store that you’re following a home from.
00:14:53.597 –> 00:14:59.177
So they are somewhat limited, but that distance, you can see how it could enable
00:14:59.177 –> 00:15:03.657
those that have ill intent to do exactly what they’re trying to do.
00:15:04.077 –> 00:15:10.377
Now, they all have apps that you use to track, you know, when you lose your
00:15:10.377 –> 00:15:14.577
keys, because it’s supposed to be used for items and property, not anything else.
00:15:14.577 –> 00:15:19.337
When you lose your keys, there’s apps, they’ll beep, They’ll give it,
00:15:19.477 –> 00:15:21.997
provide a signal back through the Bluetooth.
00:15:22.917 –> 00:15:27.617
And I know, again, picking on them for just a minute, the AirTags,
00:15:27.857 –> 00:15:34.617
Apple kind of responded to this concern of nefarious things going on or the potential for it.
00:15:34.677 –> 00:15:38.657
And what Apple did was, I think what you experienced is, hey,
00:15:38.837 –> 00:15:42.737
you’ve got an unknown AirTag near you, right?
00:15:42.737 –> 00:15:48.237
And so they did that in response to trying to tighten things up a little bit
00:15:48.237 –> 00:15:51.277
as much as they could in the moment that they decide to do that.
00:15:51.417 –> 00:15:56.477
And so what that means is after that air tag has been away from its owner for
00:15:56.477 –> 00:16:00.817
a period of time, I think you said it was probably about three hours before you got the notice.
00:16:01.977 –> 00:16:07.037
It’s how it works is after a period of time of being completely away from its
00:16:07.037 –> 00:16:13.137
actual owner, it will send out a signal saying, hey, I’m out here. I’m basically lost.
00:16:13.317 –> 00:16:18.157
But if you’re using the app, like, say, in the using Apple app.
00:16:18.558 –> 00:16:23.678
They have an app called Find My, and it’s meant for finding your AirTags.
00:16:23.918 –> 00:16:29.498
And what that app will do, and anybody can have Find My on their Apple.
00:16:29.498 –> 00:16:35.158
It’s only for Apple. But what Apple did is if you have a tag that’s not yours,
00:16:35.158 –> 00:16:37.658
basically, it will alert you.
00:16:37.738 –> 00:16:43.678
And then it gives you a means of shutting that tag down since it’s not yours, which is kind of nice.
00:16:44.458 –> 00:16:49.018
Yeah. Android actually. But that’s. Huh? Go ahead. Yeah, go ahead.
00:16:49.078 –> 00:16:51.698
No, go ahead. You were right segwayed right into it. You were going right into it.
00:16:51.818 –> 00:16:56.018
No, I was just going to say that Android put out something to track AirTags
00:16:56.018 –> 00:16:58.398
specifically called Tracker Detect.
00:16:58.598 –> 00:17:03.918
And it’s a simple free app you can download. And it’s supposedly based off of Bluetooth.
00:17:04.318 –> 00:17:08.638
Using Bluetooth will look for AirTags in your area.
00:17:09.638 –> 00:17:14.438
So there are things being done to kind of help or at least give the feeling
00:17:14.438 –> 00:17:17.998
of mitigation of the issue at hand. But really, it’s about dealing with people
00:17:17.998 –> 00:17:21.518
like any other personal safety, personal protection topic, right?
00:17:21.658 –> 00:17:22.938
You got to deal with the people.
00:17:23.138 –> 00:17:27.978
They’ll use any device, any means necessary to accomplish their goal.
00:17:29.586 –> 00:17:33.626
Yeah, like Michael Caine said, he said, so there’s some men that just want to
00:17:33.626 –> 00:17:35.026
see the world burn, man. Yeah.
00:17:35.366 –> 00:17:38.606
They’re just angry and they want to do bad things. But, you know,
00:17:38.746 –> 00:17:43.446
the segue that you add there is accurate because this is a deep rabbit hole, dude.
00:17:43.786 –> 00:17:49.046
I got into this and I got frustrated with it because it’s not just Apple or Android.
00:17:49.346 –> 00:17:55.446
There’s a litany. There’s Chinese knockoffs. You can go on Wish.com or Alibaba
00:17:55.446 –> 00:17:56.566
or whatever anybody buys it all.
00:17:56.706 –> 00:17:59.206
And you can buy a pack of 12, a family pack of these things.
00:17:59.206 –> 00:18:05.266
Family pack the econo pack exactly yeah i’m like well holy shit well that’s
00:18:05.266 –> 00:18:09.446
great that my little apple phone will go ahead and tell me when an air tag is
00:18:09.446 –> 00:18:11.806
there or a joy phone tell me when their.
00:18:12.246 –> 00:18:15.766
Cubans or whatever they got is there well what about all this other stuff out
00:18:15.766 –> 00:18:19.626
here yeah you know what about all this other stuff you know and it goes deep
00:18:19.626 –> 00:18:22.606
and it’s just like man i don’t necessarily think this is something that needs
00:18:22.606 –> 00:18:26.366
to be mass consumerism yeah i mean i don’t You know,
00:18:26.526 –> 00:18:29.286
there’s a line of what should and shouldn’t be done all the time,
00:18:29.286 –> 00:18:32.226
but I don’t see this being something that needs to be like,
00:18:32.546 –> 00:18:37.106
oh, buy a stick of gum or a pack of gum and then, and then get an air attack while you’re at it.
00:18:37.106 –> 00:18:40.046
No, no, that doesn’t need to be laying out there like that because people,
00:18:40.166 –> 00:18:44.566
I don’t mind, you know, idle hands and idle minds and people start getting some kind of work.
00:18:44.786 –> 00:18:49.066
That’s where I’m at with it. I think as a whole sense of technology,
00:18:49.246 –> 00:18:52.306
this needs to be put back on the shelf and reevaluated.
00:18:52.446 –> 00:18:57.926
That’s where I’m at with it. I tend to agree because the intent and purpose
00:18:57.926 –> 00:19:02.626
that they had for the technology seems to be noble.
00:19:03.086 –> 00:19:08.646
Like if Nana has a hard time keeping up with her keys, should she be better at it? Sure.
00:19:08.846 –> 00:19:16.106
But if not, this could be one easy, smooth, relatively inexpensive way that you could find it.
00:19:16.186 –> 00:19:20.466
I mean, my buddy’s got a tile or something in his wallet. So if he misplaces
00:19:20.466 –> 00:19:25.206
his wallet, he can track it down, right? So it kind of has good intent.
00:19:27.606 –> 00:19:32.826
It still has good intent. No, go ahead. Yeah, exactly. Exactly.
00:19:33.997 –> 00:19:37.957
30 years, 35, 40. I don’t remember that time. I lost a key. Yeah, I don’t either.
00:19:38.157 –> 00:19:41.097
Like the keys, my keys are the last thing I’m ever going to lose.
00:19:41.277 –> 00:19:45.877
Like, have I, did I misplace them in the house somewhere and left them on a shelf?
00:19:46.017 –> 00:19:50.117
I don’t regularly leave them on. And I was like, now where the hell did I put my keys?
00:19:50.277 –> 00:19:53.917
Yeah, I’ve done that a couple of times, but this dude never loses keys.
00:19:54.057 –> 00:19:57.837
Now that’s not to say that there’s not others out there that struggle every
00:19:57.837 –> 00:20:01.297
day with their wallets, their phones, their keys, their luggage, whatever,
00:20:01.517 –> 00:20:04.837
you know, luggage is a thing that I could say would be a cool way,
00:20:04.917 –> 00:20:09.377
but I kind of, when, when you brought this up, I kind of had the same thought as you.
00:20:09.577 –> 00:20:13.997
It’s like, okay, you know that this could potentially be used,
00:20:13.997 –> 00:20:18.817
but then again, you know, it was like you say, it’s a deep, deep, deep rabbit hole.
00:20:18.977 –> 00:20:23.537
It’s like, okay, if you know this could be used for ill purpose, should it be put out?
00:20:23.737 –> 00:20:27.297
Well, then you just opened up Pandora’s box.
00:20:28.157 –> 00:20:30.077
You would have thought that,
00:20:30.702 –> 00:20:34.342
And, you know, and I don’t know, I was about to launch into,
00:20:34.402 –> 00:20:36.982
you know, putting more thought into it.
00:20:37.082 –> 00:20:44.062
But what exactly do you do to keep things from not being used as intended?
00:20:44.622 –> 00:20:47.122
Right. So this is technology.
00:20:47.822 –> 00:20:52.082
But what could you do? Well, I think that I think it’s a good question.
00:20:52.522 –> 00:20:57.382
It’s one of those things. It’s an ethical issue, you know, and there’s something
00:20:57.382 –> 00:21:01.822
wrong with, you know, let’s go back. a step back.
00:21:02.242 –> 00:21:05.482
Because there’s a part where you were saying they think that it could be used for nefarious.
00:21:05.662 –> 00:21:10.382
No, they have a class action suit right now going on aiding that they’re in trouble.
00:21:10.942 –> 00:21:14.862
That people have been hunted down with these things. They know that the problem
00:21:14.862 –> 00:21:16.382
exists. They’ve been made aware.
00:21:17.702 –> 00:21:21.862
Exactly. In the name of profit, like, dude, seriously, you guys are supposed
00:21:21.862 –> 00:21:24.382
to be the shining pillar of the community.
00:21:24.902 –> 00:21:28.982
You know? And you want us to use your technology? Well, then do us a solid.
00:21:29.102 –> 00:21:31.842
Why don’t you kick one back step and get the put this back down you know
00:21:31.842 –> 00:21:34.862
we kind of make them illegal but illegal doesn’t mean anything you
00:21:34.862 –> 00:21:37.582
know i mean it’s already kind of opened the box up people know what’s out
00:21:37.582 –> 00:21:41.222
there yeah you know they’re going to copy it it was like napster you know it’s
00:21:41.222 –> 00:21:44.362
master everybody was downloading free music and they shut it down when they
00:21:44.362 –> 00:21:47.502
opened up line where they just kept opening and opening and opening right it
00:21:47.502 –> 00:21:51.142
is what it is but i think the thing that needs to be done is what we’re doing
00:21:51.142 –> 00:21:54.862
right now is making other people aware that this technology exists and that
00:21:54.862 –> 00:21:56.802
it could potentially go off and get you?
00:21:56.942 –> 00:22:01.862
What can you do about it? Well, that’s what my whole Instagram post was about.
00:22:01.982 –> 00:22:04.442
It was like, okay, if it happens to you, great.
00:22:04.582 –> 00:22:06.842
I mean, it’s terrible and we hate that it happens, but what are you going to
00:22:06.842 –> 00:22:08.442
do? What’s your backstop?
00:22:08.742 –> 00:22:12.562
What is it? Where are you going to, what’s your booby trap? How are you going to booby trap your room?
00:22:12.742 –> 00:22:18.702
And I’m not a tinfoil hat guy. I don’t walk around scared. You know, and go, oh, whoa.
00:22:19.822 –> 00:22:23.582
I’m not one of those guys. I live my life pretty fancy because I don’t mess with anything.
00:22:24.212 –> 00:22:27.152
You know, I leave, you know, I treat people the way I want to be treated. Go anyway.
00:22:27.572 –> 00:22:31.412
It’s not an effort thing over here right now. But that’s the point.
00:22:31.712 –> 00:22:34.772
The point of everything that you do, your self-initiative program,
00:22:34.932 –> 00:22:37.392
your project, is everything. That’s what you’ve been telling people.
00:22:37.492 –> 00:22:38.332
Like, look, pay attention.
00:22:38.572 –> 00:22:41.712
You’re not telling people to freak out and, oh, my God, they’re out to get you.
00:22:41.852 –> 00:22:45.872
You’re saying, hey, man, don’t make it easy for them. You know, be a harder target.
00:22:46.112 –> 00:22:48.612
They don’t, because criminals have tendency to find the easiest way.
00:22:48.732 –> 00:22:49.852
They take the path of each resistance.
00:22:50.432 –> 00:22:54.012
You know, they don’t want to go up against people that are going to fight back
00:22:54.012 –> 00:22:58.052
or be prepared in any way, shape, or form because it impedes what they want to do.
00:22:58.332 –> 00:23:02.732
They’re out to make a quick buck. And 99.9% of them, well, probably 95% of them
00:23:02.732 –> 00:23:03.812
are some type of drug addict.
00:23:04.132 –> 00:23:07.712
You know, they’re not processing at the highest level. All you got to do is
00:23:07.712 –> 00:23:08.832
slip them up a little bit.
00:23:09.172 –> 00:23:13.892
Jim, I’m not going to lie to you. Part of me kind of wished that somebody came
00:23:13.892 –> 00:23:16.492
through that door just to see what I had to do.
00:23:16.632 –> 00:23:19.052
You know what I’m saying? If I was really as prepared as I thought I was.
00:23:19.052 –> 00:23:23.232
You know, and that sounds bad, but the reality, like, I don’t want to hurt anybody.
00:23:23.592 –> 00:23:26.472
I don’t want to be, I don’t want to carry myself as some badass or anything
00:23:26.472 –> 00:23:27.712
like that. It’s not the way I roll.
00:23:28.192 –> 00:23:32.172
But, you know, to be prepared and to get tested every now and then,
00:23:32.412 –> 00:23:35.292
ain’t no wrong with that. You know what I’m saying? It’s a good feeling.
00:23:35.752 –> 00:23:38.472
It’s a good feeling. I came out of that feeling pretty good, man.
00:23:38.692 –> 00:23:41.892
I handled that pretty well. And I think you did, too.
00:23:42.112 –> 00:23:46.332
And, you know, by booby trap, we’re not inferring. I don’t think it’s safe to
00:23:46.332 –> 00:23:48.772
say that Chris isn’t saying set up man traps.
00:23:48.992 –> 00:23:52.352
In his case, you know, he’s setting up alerting mechanisms for himself.
00:23:52.532 –> 00:23:54.712
Right. So no one’s going to get the drop. Right.
00:23:54.972 –> 00:24:01.592
I think the takeaways I would have out of the things of what I think you were
00:24:01.592 –> 00:24:05.492
saying is one is what can we do about these things? Well, you’re not going to
00:24:05.492 –> 00:24:08.032
stop it. The technology has been out a long time.
00:24:08.252 –> 00:24:13.532
There’s a crap ton of really inexpensive knockoffs probably starting to flood the market.
00:24:14.012 –> 00:24:16.592
If someone’s got nefarious, ill intent.
00:24:17.326 –> 00:24:20.486
They’re going to do what they’re going to do. There’s not a lot you can do to
00:24:20.486 –> 00:24:22.786
shut that behavior down, right?
00:24:23.026 –> 00:24:28.906
So it’s on you as the individual to figure out what you’re going to do for yourself
00:24:28.906 –> 00:24:33.826
and what you would do for yourself should you be confronted with this type of
00:24:33.826 –> 00:24:36.666
thing with these trackers or any other personal safety,
00:24:36.946 –> 00:24:39.226
personal protection scenario that you can think of.
00:24:39.226 –> 00:24:43.486
I think getting to the point is, is that one is what can we do is,
00:24:43.946 –> 00:24:46.646
well, we’re doing it, right? It’s about creating awareness.
00:24:47.066 –> 00:24:51.886
Did you even know this sort of thing existed? Do you check your stuff occasionally?
00:24:52.086 –> 00:24:56.586
Do you fire up this app to see if, you know, you’re missing notifications or
00:24:56.586 –> 00:25:03.226
if something that you can pick up on this nearby that it seems odd and out of place?
00:25:03.746 –> 00:25:06.906
Are you prepared? Do you have a plan in place?
00:25:07.446 –> 00:25:12.186
Do you know how to rig up something to alert you if someone came into your hotel
00:25:12.186 –> 00:25:14.526
room in the middle of the night while you’re trying to sleep?
00:25:14.866 –> 00:25:19.546
And then the other one, which I cling on to, and maybe it’s a stretch out of
00:25:19.546 –> 00:25:21.826
what you said, but the other one for me is…
00:25:22.781 –> 00:25:31.581
You don’t necessarily want to literally test what you would do, right?
00:25:31.681 –> 00:25:36.001
Because you don’t mean any ill will and you don’t want to have to follow it through.
00:25:36.261 –> 00:25:42.721
But I think the spin on that and what I preach a lot is the importance of thinking through scenarios.
00:25:43.401 –> 00:25:46.701
Because anybody that’s thought through the scenario, a scenario,
00:25:46.941 –> 00:25:50.741
and has come up with a plan for themselves, and that plan may not be appropriate
00:25:50.741 –> 00:25:54.341
for everyone or work for everyone, But that plan that you’ve come up with for
00:25:54.341 –> 00:25:57.761
yourself, given the scenario you’ve thought through, you’re better off than
00:25:57.761 –> 00:25:59.981
the person that hasn’t given it any thought.
00:26:00.381 –> 00:26:04.461
And you’re therefore kind of making yourself better prepared in the first place.
00:26:04.461 –> 00:26:08.561
But I think relative to this and technology that’s coming out,
00:26:08.561 –> 00:26:14.701
you know, on a daily basis, just about on a large scale, there’s not a lot you can do about that.
00:26:14.901 –> 00:26:19.941
But I think you can start by getting the information out there like you did
00:26:19.941 –> 00:26:22.981
on your Instagram account, you know, making people aware.
00:26:23.201 –> 00:26:26.961
And do they need to check inside their duffel bags every time they travel?
00:26:27.261 –> 00:26:30.301
Well, maybe. Is that what they want to do? Is that part of their safety,
00:26:30.501 –> 00:26:32.441
their personal safety plan? Could be.
00:26:33.041 –> 00:26:37.381
But I think, you know, being aware that this is going on, that there are these
00:26:37.381 –> 00:26:41.361
little trackers that you can have stuck on your car or thrown in your duffel
00:26:41.361 –> 00:26:44.561
bag or, you know, dropped in your purse or in your coat pocket.
00:26:45.602 –> 00:26:50.982
You need to be aware so you can figure out what you might want to do to avoid a situation, right?
00:26:51.142 –> 00:26:54.722
Including, you know, installing and firing up some of these apps and running
00:26:54.722 –> 00:26:58.402
them from time to time, especially if you find yourself in a predicament like
00:26:58.402 –> 00:27:02.502
you are, where you’re not home, you’re traveling, you’re in some funky, strange hotel,
00:27:02.762 –> 00:27:06.942
whatever it is, just to be better prepared. And that’s really what it’s all about.
00:27:08.642 –> 00:27:12.362
Yeah, I mean, you summed it up about as well as anybody could.
00:27:13.182 –> 00:27:18.382
Like I said it’s not a thing of fear it’s just being aware that the reality
00:27:18.382 –> 00:27:21.962
of the world that we live in is the world that we live in and there are people
00:27:21.962 –> 00:27:26.762
that aren’t good people man and you may cross them for any rhyme or reason and
00:27:26.762 –> 00:27:29.002
just to have any type of situational awareness,
00:27:29.642 –> 00:27:32.322
and maybe just even a back in
00:27:32.322 –> 00:27:35.502
the back deepest part of your mind plan in case something happens
00:27:35.502 –> 00:27:38.382
you know booby trapping and checking and trying
00:27:38.382 –> 00:27:41.342
to trap no no no no just being aware and they know don’t
00:27:41.342 –> 00:27:44.362
do anything leave everybody leave everybody alone i’m totally with
00:27:44.362 –> 00:27:47.142
that team let’s do that just stop messing with me
00:27:47.142 –> 00:27:50.122
and i’ll stop messing with you and everybody’s good and happy leave me
00:27:50.122 –> 00:27:52.962
alone but yeah man i’m telling
00:27:52.962 –> 00:27:57.962
you i don’t i do it i have zero desire to ever do any of that stuff man i just
00:27:57.962 –> 00:28:02.062
you know i know how to do it it’s cool but i don’t ever want to have to do that
00:28:02.062 –> 00:28:06.682
i don’t think that it did to be put into that situation is not a sexy thing
00:28:06.682 –> 00:28:11.302
i know they romanticize it in the movies and things, but I don’t find it appealing at all.
00:28:11.382 –> 00:28:14.542
I don’t think Mexican people, like I said, the golden rule is you treat people
00:28:14.542 –> 00:28:17.962
the way you want to be treated, man. And you handle yourself with some grace and some reverence.
00:28:18.322 –> 00:28:21.982
You know, you’re grateful around people. And you’re wearing reverences when
00:28:21.982 –> 00:28:24.322
you’re aware that there’s other people. We’re all sharing the planet, man.
00:28:25.142 –> 00:28:28.862
We’re sharing the same neighborhoods. We’re sharing our time right now talking about the situation.
00:28:29.342 –> 00:28:33.182
You know, we’re everybody sharing everything. So, you know, don’t feel like
00:28:33.182 –> 00:28:37.622
you’re entitled to what I’ve robbed on, Or you have some right to impose your will upon me.
00:28:37.902 –> 00:28:41.702
I don’t dig that, man. No one should be imposing their will on anybody else.
00:28:41.762 –> 00:28:45.002
That’s the worst thing that a human can do to another human. Yeah. You know? Yeah.
00:28:45.827 –> 00:28:48.167
And that’s what we’re talking about. We’re not talking about,
00:28:48.327 –> 00:28:52.127
but sometimes you need a good guy to go smite out the bad ones.
00:28:52.207 –> 00:28:55.627
And that’s the reality of it. There’s a person that they say, what do they say?
00:28:57.027 –> 00:29:00.227
To be a dangerous person, you have to be a, or to be a good person,
00:29:00.307 –> 00:29:01.907
you have to be a dangerous person. Absolutely.
00:29:02.307 –> 00:29:05.567
Right? They say that. Absolutely. It’s not that you, right.
00:29:05.707 –> 00:29:11.107
If you’re a good person and you’re not capable of any danger or you’re not able.
00:29:11.107 –> 00:29:13.167
To do anything to anybody, you’re just falling in line maybe.
00:29:13.167 –> 00:29:16.107
You know but a dangerous person walks around and treats
00:29:16.107 –> 00:29:18.827
you know and treats people well and it doesn’t use it
00:29:18.827 –> 00:29:21.767
as a crush to lean upon that’s a good person man
00:29:21.767 –> 00:29:24.427
sometimes you need a dangerous good person to go out here and
00:29:24.427 –> 00:29:27.447
take care of a dangerous bad person and that that’s what
00:29:27.447 –> 00:29:30.227
it’s boiled down to in my opinion you know what i’m saying so what the
00:29:30.227 –> 00:29:33.047
call of it is is to everybody who’s a good but you know
00:29:33.047 –> 00:29:35.707
good person who’s a dangerous person man help out in the
00:29:35.707 –> 00:29:38.467
community a little bit pass it out talk to people let
00:29:38.467 –> 00:29:41.587
them know hey be aware this is going on help
00:29:41.587 –> 00:29:44.827
inform folks and yeah what’s that
00:29:44.827 –> 00:29:47.967
help inform folks if nothing else exactly
00:29:47.967 –> 00:29:50.767
exactly exactly if nothing else that’s the
00:29:50.767 –> 00:29:54.187
belief that’s the bare minimum that we should pay for this exactly you
00:29:54.187 –> 00:29:57.127
know and that’s when i appreciate you bringing me on to talk about
00:29:57.127 –> 00:30:00.707
it you know and you see i got passionate about it i
00:30:00.707 –> 00:30:04.307
was getting into it a little bit no it’s it’s it’s great
00:30:04.307 –> 00:30:07.907
and it could have gone sideways it could have been something nefarious
00:30:07.907 –> 00:30:10.887
you know who knows how you got
00:30:10.887 –> 00:30:13.627
that tracker maybe it was just left in the hotel in the room
00:30:13.627 –> 00:30:16.687
next to you and you got sent the notice because it
00:30:16.687 –> 00:30:19.547
got you know it was left unattended for
00:30:19.547 –> 00:30:25.307
an extended period of time maybe there was no intent but the thing about it
00:30:25.307 –> 00:30:29.547
was it was downward no because the thing about that i thought about that and
00:30:29.547 –> 00:30:33.747
the thing about that was it was it was picked up down in the place where i was
00:30:33.747 –> 00:30:37.047
eating at so that was what was odd about i don’t know if there was a glitch
00:30:37.047 –> 00:30:38.747
or what it was I really don’t know.
00:30:39.267 –> 00:30:42.707
But it was something that was going on around me.
00:30:42.947 –> 00:30:45.907
You know, that’s all I know. And it wasn’t like in the hotel because it was,
00:30:46.267 –> 00:30:48.347
it showed my path where I drove at.
00:30:48.996 –> 00:30:51.436
You know what I’m saying? It showed exactly where I was. Not even this little
00:30:51.436 –> 00:30:53.716
stupid turnaround I had to do. I did that.
00:30:54.036 –> 00:30:58.136
You know? I don’t really, I’m not going to claim to know what exactly it happened. I don’t know.
00:30:58.436 –> 00:31:04.036
Yeah. I can tell you what I did. But it sounds like it was definitely with you and it was not yours.
00:31:04.436 –> 00:31:09.456
And you were unaware until luckily your app on your Apple, because you do have an Apple.
00:31:09.476 –> 00:31:14.536
I have an Android, but you do have the iPhone, which enables you to see pretty
00:31:14.536 –> 00:31:17.696
easily now, at least, when you’re being.
00:31:18.236 –> 00:31:25.196
When something is, when, when, uh, when an air tag that is not yours is in near your person.
00:31:26.456 –> 00:31:30.396
Yeah. Yeah. There you go. Hey, uh, that’s a good way to put it. Yeah, man.
00:31:30.916 –> 00:31:34.576
Yeah. So yeah, that’s, that’s the, that was the situation. So yeah,
00:31:34.576 –> 00:31:37.436
I don’t know what to make of it. I know that the rabbit hole is deep though.
00:31:37.656 –> 00:31:39.816
Yeah. It goes really, really, really deep.
00:31:40.236 –> 00:31:47.896
But this is just a part of it. Well, I think, like I said, helping get awareness out there is key.
00:31:48.136 –> 00:31:51.696
And then, you know, for listeners, you know, thinking about these things,
00:31:51.896 –> 00:31:56.136
making yourself aware, educating yourself a little bit and getting that preparation,
00:31:56.516 –> 00:31:59.976
you know, that preparedness plan in place for yourself and thinking through
00:31:59.976 –> 00:32:01.716
those scenarios and what you might do.
00:32:02.797 –> 00:32:08.097
And just as a general, and I’m like you, I don’t claim to be an expert about
00:32:08.097 –> 00:32:09.677
these trackers any state.
00:32:09.797 –> 00:32:13.117
I mean, like I said, one of my buddies has one in his wallet and that’s about
00:32:13.117 –> 00:32:14.517
all I know and on his keys.
00:32:14.777 –> 00:32:20.357
But, you know, I think it would behoove everyone to go and educate themselves
00:32:20.357 –> 00:32:25.757
a little bit about what the possibilities with these things are and then decide
00:32:25.757 –> 00:32:28.417
for themselves if they want to use them themselves,
00:32:29.017 –> 00:32:34.377
or what they may want to do to try to better protect themselves from them if
00:32:34.377 –> 00:32:39.077
they think that’s a potential threat for them and their lifestyle, right,
00:32:39.637 –> 00:32:41.997
or what they have going on. Yeah.
00:32:42.897 –> 00:32:48.657
Yes, you’ve got younger daughters and stuff and younger kids,
00:32:48.757 –> 00:32:51.817
any of that stuff, you should definitely make yourself aware of it.
00:32:52.777 –> 00:32:57.097
You hear the mutterings in the background about what you know,
00:32:57.237 –> 00:33:00.097
petitions going on with people missing and things like that, you know?
00:33:00.297 –> 00:33:04.017
So yeah, definitely in that situation and yourself, yeah, you’re a hundred percent right now.
00:33:04.137 –> 00:33:06.397
I was adding that little piece in there, you know, but yeah,
00:33:06.457 –> 00:33:09.617
everything that you said, you summed that up about as little as anybody possibly could have.
00:33:10.417 –> 00:33:15.377
And I do want to say too, because, you know, again, I’m not an expert and I’ve
00:33:15.377 –> 00:33:17.397
only done a little bit of research on this.
00:33:17.577 –> 00:33:24.777
We’re not implying that this is a, a huge pandemic of technology being used
00:33:24.777 –> 00:33:27.537
in a nefarious manners, Like like a lot of things, you know,
00:33:27.617 –> 00:33:32.557
we’re very fortunate in that bad things happen a very small fraction of the time.
00:33:32.737 –> 00:33:37.177
Right. So this isn’t like some large scaled widespread thing that’s going on,
00:33:37.257 –> 00:33:39.757
but it is happening and you do need to be aware of it.
00:33:40.853 –> 00:33:43.573
Chris, I appreciate you coming on and talking to me about it.
00:33:43.733 –> 00:33:48.793
I think this is good info that folks need to be aware of so they can make decisions for themselves.
00:33:49.653 –> 00:33:51.413
Can’t do it if you don’t know, right?
00:33:52.333 –> 00:33:56.433
Yeah, man. Yeah, it was good. It was a good conversation. It actually felt good
00:33:56.433 –> 00:33:57.713
to vent that off my chest.
00:33:59.093 –> 00:34:02.293
It made me feel so much better about the whole situation.
00:34:02.453 –> 00:34:05.593
Well, you know, I could tell, and I don’t want to say rattled your cage,
00:34:05.813 –> 00:34:10.113
